Leckford Estate

The Leckford Estate was purchased by John Spedan Lewis (the founder of the Partnership) in 1928 as his private estate, converted into a limited company in 1929 and is now part of the John Lewis Partnership.

In August 2001 the Leckford Estate became part of Waitrose & Partners, providing a real focus for it to produce food for the Partnership’s food stores under the Leckford brand.

Located in the heart of rural Hampshire, Leckford Estate is an area of outstanding beauty and only 25 minutes from the New Forest.

John Spedan Lewis enjoyed Leckford Estate as a place of serenity and rest. It is now a highly diverse commercial estate employing around160 Partners.

We work in a beautiful place and we take huge pride in what we do here. We produce mushrooms, apples, pears, flour, milk, apple juice, cider, for our Waitrose & Partners stores. We also serve local visitors through our retail, leisure and events business.

Leckford Estate is about delivering the finest foods from a healthy and happy place. We encompass 'The Waitrose Way' adopting sustainable agricultural methods and animal husbandry on a daily basis, ensuring that environment, people and animals are taken care of at all times.

In 2004, we became a LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) demonstration farm - a sign that we were doing all the right things, by all the right people!
