Willowthorpe Care Home provides care for elderly residents. We offer several types of stay depending on the level of support required - from long-term residential care to short stay and respite breaks. The home has two environments for residents depending on the level of care required. Abbotts View provides residential care whilst The Willows is a safe, comfortable environment that specialises in the care of older people living with a dementia.

Detailed Job Description

Formerly a private country house, Willowthorpe has been sympathetically renovated and extended and now provides care for elderly residents. Willowthorpe is part of B&M Care who over 1200 care and ancillary staff between their care homes and at their Hertfordshire Head Office. Their staff training and development is industry envied and staff retention and long service is high.
Willowthorpe Care Home has an opportunity for a keen apprentice to join their busy kitchen team, learn the trade and gain a Level 2 Production Chef Qualification.
Duties will include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Skills Required

A basic knowledge of coking and understanding of working to produce enticing meals for the varied dietary requirement s for the elderly including Diabetic, Build up/densely nutritious/soft.
Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications Required

None required, however, Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.

Things to consider

Hours are between 8am and 3pm and may include some weekend shifts and back holidays.
