Ideal Person Specification

We are seeking a candidate who is working in a similar or transferrable role to a Meeting and Events Office Sales Manager. You will have a sound understanding of the mechanics within an operational events office and have experience managing a small team. You will be familiar with and hopefully experienced in working with events management software, ideally having used Delphi before.

You will be familiar enough with the events industry to where you will be able to create and uphold SOP’s within the department. You will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to spot areas for opportunities and development within the team.

You will be a thorough and detail-orientated person who has strong administration skills.  You will also embody hospitality and be a warm and inspiring individual that guests and colleagues respond well to.

The Role

You will report directly to the Director of Meeting and Events and form a positive and interactive relationship where you’ll receive mentorship. You are the office manager for the events department, and you’ll be managing a team of two Coordinators and will work alongside them in our spacious and uplifting office. There is flexibility in this role to work from home occasionally to support your work-life balance.

Some of the key duties you will carry out in this role are:

  • Ongoing line management for two M&E Coordinators. Providing coaching, mentorship, and direction to these individuals. Responsible for your team's ongoing professional development.
  • Senior point of contact for event clients, taking a hands-on approach, especially with high-value event business. For example, answering the telephone, responding to emails, meeting clients in person for meetings and conducting show rounds.
  • Head of Department for the events office. Attending hotel team and internal meetings on behalf of the department and the senior liaison.
  • Maximize revenue and profit through effective diary management, commercial pricing & the setting of selling strategies. Effectively manage the allocation of the hotel’s event space.
  • Administration and reporting duties, utilising M&E software where possible to support efficiencies and productivity.
  • The ‘’owner’’ and ambassador of the M&E software Delphi. Regular auditing of the system to ensure the information is robust and accurate. Review templates regularly and updates when needed. Refresher training for the team when required. Coaching and supporting new team members to utilise the system.
  • Drive a culture of selling within the team, supporting them to drive revenue and profit through pro-active selling techniques.
  • Work closely with the business development team to drive sales. Attend client entertaining events for example.
  • Cultivate excellent working relations between your department and all other hotel supporting departments like finance, kitchen and front of house.
