Apprentice Commis Chef – Daphne’s – Earn & Learn!

£10.50 per hour

40 hours per week – Mon to Friday 8-4pm (for first 6 months)

(5 shifts a week 1 day College release per week – paid)

We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Apprentice Commis Chef to join the team of one of our iconic Restaurants – Daphne’s, part of Caprice Restaurants. We can provide you with the foundations that you need to reach for the Michelin Stars.

Founded in 1964 by theatre agent Daphne Rye – the woman who famously discovered Richard Burton – this London institution has long been a favourite amongst the residents of Chelsea, as well as visitors from further afield. Its seasonal Italian country cooking, sourced with great attention to detail, is justly famed around the world.

We are proud to be partnered with Westminster Kingsway College, which in May 2022 has been named as one of the top five culinary schools in the world to gain the skills and technical expertise needed to become a chef. The college was recognised alongside other illustrious institutions, namely the Culinary Institute of America in the United States, Le Cordon Bleu in France, Apicius in Italy and the Business and Hotel Management School, Switzerland.

As an Apprentice Commis Chef, you will attend College one day per week and the other 4 days of the week you will be an integral part of the Kitchen team, learning how the kitchen runs, working in your section keeping it clean and tidy, and efficiently carrying out the orders and specifications set by the Chef de Partie or senior chef.  You will help produce high quality dishes from scratch whilst maintaining the high standards and expectations of the restaurant. You will learn from highly experienced, passionate chefs, work with amazing product and be taken on apprentice ‘trips’ – to learn Butchery, to understand Cheese and the difference in Oysters!

Throughout your apprenticeship you will be working with the finest ingredients and will be mentored by your Chef to develop your skills and experience. This role could lead into a full time Commis Chef or Demi Chef de Partie position at one of Caprice’s Restaurants.
