Beverage assistants are also involved in the receiving and delivering of beverage (coffee, soft drinks and alcohol. Customer service is paramount with any beverage Service and will be one of the main focuses of the job role.

Main duties and responsibilities

1.To provide a warm welcome to all our guests, ensuring a good, courteous and efficient service. Greeting guests and dealing with their requirements accordingly.

2.To attend work punctually, ensuring you present yourself in a smart professional manner (adhering to the company uniform policy) at all times whilst on company premises and never attend work under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other substances.

3.Always come prepared for work with a corkscrew / bottle opener and pen.

4.Ensure all bar tables are clean and set up with table talkers and drink menus.

5.To prepare and serve all beverages including coffee, soft drinks, and alcohol.

6.Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the drinks on offer and any promotions currently being advertised.

7.To restock all service areas ready for the next service period. Inspect bar serving stations for neatness and cleanliness and corrects any deficiencies if found.

8.To handle cash and be familiar with credit/debit card procedures. To carry out till operations, including cashing up and depositing cash at the closure of a shift.

9.To ensure any cutlery and glass wear are washed and prepared for the next service period.

10.Empty any refuge containers.

11.Clean the bar, restaurant and function areas (hovering and washing floors, wiping tables and surfaces, general cleanliness of food and beverage areas, emptying and re-lining bins). To clean coffee machines and equipment as necessary, following company cleaning schedules and practices.

12.Complete any paperwork accurately and legibly.

13.To work with and respect fellow colleagues and managers, always demonstrating diligence to your work.

14.Interact with customers, ensuring the guests expectations are exceeded.

15.To promote all facilities and products within the theatre in a positive manner.

16.Attend any training and departmental meetings as directed.

17.Comply with all legal obligations, company policies and practices and comply with the requirements under the responsible service of alcohol.

18.To follow all health & safety guidelines and report and possible hazards to your line manager.

19.Any other duties as detailed by the management.

This position will work alongside existing staff and volunteers and will include theatre bar work where condidates be able to watch the shows that are performing on the night of working.

Theatre offers free hot and cold refreshments and ice cream when on shift to all staff and volunteers. Discount available for food and drink purchased in the café and discounted theatre tickets.

When there is no bar work required you may experience working in other theatre areas such as box office, technical and stage.
