An excellent opportunity has arisen for a General Manager at Walkabout Newbury.

Walkabout Newbury is a two-floor operation, with the main bar on the ground floor and a smaller overflow bar on the first floor. This site is predominantly drinks led, with the majority of the trade visiting on Friday and Saturday nights and during sporting events. Newbury is a beautiful market town, so this venue is a key destination for many of the towns locals and working professionals to enjoy food and drink on the weekend and after work. The town is home to both independent and large- scale pubs, clubs and restaurants, so this site is ideal for someone who is competitive, sales driven & keen to spot new opportunities.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone full of energy and entrepreneurial; someone who is confident to network and build high level relationships with local businesses to really drive sales forward. The site has a great relationship with a large corporate company who visit regularly, so someone who is confident to manage this relationship and build new ones will succeed. The ability to develop strong relationships with licensing authorities is also essential. This site offers an exciting opportunity for the right manager, a real go getter will absolutely thrive.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in managing a drink-led business and have a background in working in a sports site.

As a General Manager, you will need to be able to demonstrate great leadership skills and the ability to build a high performing team in order to control, develop and improve all aspects of the business including: P&L, people, standards, legal compliance, service and brand integrity.


We require all our General Managers to hold a Personal License.
