Our Conference & Events Manager supports our Director of Events Operations with the effective and efficient running of the hotels Conference & Events teams, with direct responsibility for maintaining the highest of standards to ensure guest expectation is consistently exceeded.

Your day to day

As our Conference & Events Manager you will:

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the department, ensuring a hands-on support is required for all key meetings, events and conference business  - ensuring a 5 star customer service at all times.
  • Overall understanding of the departmental staffing structure, ensuring appropriate levels are maintained, including overseeing the labour costs ensuring this is controlled and in line with the staff rotas
  • Review of all function sheets, food menus, room layouts and supplier information prior to the event taking place. Overall responsibility for the successful operation of all events, providing excellent experiences for our customers.
  • Commitment to building, supporting, developing and coaching a dynamic workforce, getting the team up to an amazing standard.
  • Develop a good working relationship with the Meetings & Events Sales team, attend pre and post event meetings to assist in the planning process to enhance the guest experience.

Working as a Conference & Events Manager you will ensure all team members are trained and manage the shift you are working, and the events assigned you will work a variety of shifts, including Days, Evening & Night Shifts, over Weekdays & Weekends including Bank Holidays.

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of working in a supervisory role in a Conference & Banqueting environment, ideally within a 4/5* quality hotel. You will bring with you knowledge of beverage control and some experience in that field is essential.

You will have a flexible approach and the ability to motivate your team as well as some experience in managing rotas, payroll and preferably using IT systems such as OPERA and Fourth.

You will also have excellent organisation and time management skills and be a strong communicator with the ability to create a rapport with guests.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a fast paced environment and is competent in multi-tasking and responding to business needs.
