As Head Housekeeper, you will support the Rooms Division Manager and be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the housekeeping team, with direct accountability for defined processes within the department ensuring financial targets are achieved whilst maintaining the highest of standards to ensure guest expectation is consistently exceeded.

Working closely with the operations team, you'll be committed to maintaining a fully functioning and efficient housekeeping department, with the emphasis on the guest experience & cleanliness.

This role will give a great opportunity for a Head Housekeeper to coach and lead the Housekeeping team and play a major part in the hotel’s growth and development.

Your day to day

Areas of Accountability: Bedrooms | public areas | back of house areas | in room amenity requests | all laundry, lost property, stores including linen, chemical and guest supplies | supplier relations | management of uniform | departmental training

  • Manage set up of rooms with guest specific requirements ensuring attention to detail and presentable room layout has been achieved by the Floor Housekeepers
  • Assist Rooms Division Manager to ensure the Housekeeping team maintain high quality standards, following defined ways of Cleaning standards and departmental KPI’s
  • Safeguarding the brand by ensuring guest room brand standards are adhered too.
  • Utilising brand standard toolkits to train and build pride in team to deliver consistent branded experience
  • Monitor and check the VIP arrival / ensuring HSK are meeting all requirements/ FO is being kept informed of status.
  • Ensure adequate stock level of housekeeping stores i.e.: cleaning supplies/guest amenities, linen & bedding
  • Inspect and supervisor the public area cleaners to ensure achieving consistently high standard of cleanliness
  • Complete with the Room Attendant/ Self checkers schedule according to the forecast
  • Works directly with team and ensures the wellbeing of team and highlight any concerns to Rooms Division Manager
  • Within context of objectives set by manager, assign tasks, and monitor progress against performance metrics
  • Solve multiple, undefined problems that span multiple work flows
  • Identifies training gaps
  • Coaching and supporting team members to develop
  • Steps up to leads department if and when required

What we need from you

To succeed as our Head Housekeeper, you will need:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing a people focused Housekeeping team and have strong people management experience.

  • Duty management and Housekeeping team leadership experience in a property of similar size & standard. 
  • 4/5 * Experience Desired
  • Proven track record with success at coaching and training and implementation of process and audit
  • Proven record of self initiative and demonstrating capability to lead a team
  • Demonstrates collaboration with other departments
  • Shows awareness of market trends and has the ability to implement new initiatives
  • Thorough knowledge of statutory regulations ensuring the business is always operated within the law
  • Understanding of systems to support driving results –Opera, Microsoft suite
  • Knowledge of service optimization tool such as ‘Quore’ a plus
