Job Title: Apprentice House Butler

Reports to: Hall Manger

Job Purpose

The Apprentice House Butler, in accordance with the agreed shift pattern will assist in delivering high quality events for the company and clients through event set up, serving food and drinks. On a rotational basis train how to administer the wine cellar, plate safe, 4th floor meeting rooms and staff café. The Apprentice House Butler will also contribute to the smooth running, general upkeep, maintenance and cleaning of the Hall and 6 Fredericks Place.

Key areas of Responsibilities

Event Delivery

· Assist in delivering the agreed event, observing the casual team briefing to ensure the team are aware of event expectation and plan, (this includes the health and safety briefing which is to be recorded and signed as completed).

· Assist in ensuring the event set up is correctly arranged to the event plan. Clean, prepare and set tables for events with attention to menus and setting required in line with the requirements detailed on Salesforce

· Preparing of plates, cutlery and glasses and other equipment needed for the events

· Serving of food and wines as required in event plan (Butler, Silver service, buffet, plated)

· Preparing and serving tea and coffee for meetings and other events and meetings

· Supporting the event close down to the Company procedures and security requirements

· Assisting in ensuring good communication flows between Halls, Kitchen and Fellowship teams to successfully delivery events to the high standard expected

· Assisting in providing the required set up with AV and IT equipment for events and meetings.

· Contributing to the Pre-event and Post-event debrief meetings to continually develop and improve events service delivery

Hall and 6 Frederick’s Pace

· Maintaining the Hall areas and reporting areas of maintenance and damage to the Hall Manager

· Cleaning the Hall areas

· Polishing the silver plate and brass fittings

· Moving furniture as required by the Hall Manager to prepare the space for events, also assisting with movement and delivery of office furniture

· Greeting warmly guests to the Hall and providing refreshments as required

· Cleaning and replenishing all coffee machines.


Rotational Duties

· Company Plate Safe – assisting in administering the Company Plate, recording plate taken out for Company events and ensuring the safe return. Liaising with the Collections Manager for restoration and storage of Company Pate

· Company Wine Cellar – assisting in administering the Company Wine Cellar, taking deliveries of wine and storing it correctly. Liaising with the Finance team on the invoicing and annual audits. Ensuring appropriate wine is available for Company events in line with member requirements. Ensuring the safe keeping of other Companies wine stored in the Cellar

· Breakfast Duties – Serving and preparing breakfast to members and guests who stay overnight in the bedrooms

· Staff Café - preparation of staff café for lunch, liaising with the Chef and ensuring all equipment is working and available for diners. Bringing food up during lunch service and ensuring that there is appropriate levels of food for all staff. Proactively managing the service and replenishing food as required. Clear cafe after lunch service quickly and efficiently, communicating with the Chef as to what should be kept or disposed of. Record and monitor food and fridge temperature levels and during the day load and unload dish washer as required to ensure kitchen space is tidy and stocked.

· Meeting Rooms – prepare and replenish all meeting rooms on 4th floor in partnership with the Office Co-ordinator.

Additional Duties

· Valeting of Master and Clerks clothes, under the direction of the Hall Manager.

· Following the Health & Safety and Security procedures for the Company.
