Detailed Job Description

An exciting new venture in North Devon. The Farmers Arms and Woolsery Fish and Chips needs a Commis Chefs to join their team. Their food ethos is local, foraged, fresh and sustainable. Everything is made in house or supplied by quality vendors who help to support the community. Their own farm to supply fresh produce and meat is in the works as well. With a major investment and renovations on going, there will be considerable opportunity for growth and the chance to work with an incredible team, led by Executive Chef Ian Webber.
Alongside learning the trade, the successful applicant will work towards gaining a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
There is also the opportunity to cross train and promote to other positions in the Woolsery project.
Job Duties:
Ingredient preparation
Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
Plating up and presentation of food
Taking instruction from senior chefs
Cleaning and clearing down work stations
Working in a safe manner at all times
Portion control
Cross over from back to front of house, with the ability to interface with guests and introduce dishes
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and following Health & Safety procedures.
Requirements:
Work well in a team environment, with a good attitude and a willingness to learn
Ability to work full time, sometimes flexible, hours

Skills Required

A passion for learning and working with food.
Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications Required

GCSE grades C (or equivalent) is an advantage but not essential.
Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.
