Detailed Job Description

The apprenticeship advertised represents a fantastic opportunity to be part of the award winning River Beat Asian Tapas restaurant. Located on the Quayside, a popular location for foodies in and around Newcastle.
Chef de Patron Andy Drape has travelled across Asia to bring authentic tastes and flavours back to Newcastle. Travelling though Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Malaysia, Andy has been influenced by the dishes of each region. So this really is a one of opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of Asian cuisine
Full training and support will be given, both through the apprenticeship and at site level, the successful applicant will work towards gaining a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
The role will be varied, exciting and innovative.
Duties to include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Qualifications Required

None required, however, Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.
You have to be aged 16 years or over and you also need to be a resident in England and not taking part in full-time education.
This vacancy is not suitable for an apprentice who already has already achieved a Level 2 qualification within the industry, including professional cookery or food production.

The employer is willing to negotiate wage for someone with experience.
