Detailed Job Description

rhubarb provides a fresh and dynamic complimentary lounge menu to travellers offering breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, with a buffet and à la carte service available. Using a range of British-sourced ingredients where possible, the menus also feature dishes available for those with dietary requirements.
rhubarb takes full ownership of the menu development, food preparation, presentation, front of house and customer management and interaction for all hospitality requirements.
This is a great opportunity for an Apprentice Commis Chef to join rhubarb in the American Airlines Lounges, located at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3 (Airside). Fully immersive role covering all areas of culinary, working with a fantastic team in a fun, friendly, positive environment. Learn the trade alongside working towards gaining a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
The lounge reflects rhubarb and American Airlines shared understanding of excellence with a premium offer and impeccable service.
Duties will include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Skills Required

Basic knife skills (preferable but not essential)
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure

Personal Qualities

Excellent Time Keeping
High Level of written and verbal English
Experience of working within a professional Kitchen (advantageous but not essential)
Highly organised and methodical

Qualifications Required

None required, however, Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.
You have to be aged 16 years or over and you also need to be a resident in England and not taking part in full-time education.

Training to be Provided

Commis Chef apprenticeship Level 2

Expected Duration

12 Months

Working Week

40 hours per week, over 5 days, includes weekends.
