The Birch is a family owned bar and restaurant set on the outskirts of the historic market town of Woburn just 5 minutes from Milton Keynes. A great opportunity has arisen at The Birch for an apprentice chef to join the busy kitchen team, learn the trade alongside working to gain a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
Duties will include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Qualifications Required

None required, however, maths & English will be assessed as part of the interview process.

Future Prospects

As the right candidate develops and becomes a competent Commis Chef there are then opportunities for progression within the business.

Other Information

Wages will be discussed at interview and will be paid at the NMW for age. The role will be at least 30 and may increase to suit the business needs.

Training to be Provided

Commis Chef apprenticeship including Functional Skills Maths (Level 1), Functional Skills English (Level 1)

Expected Duration

12 Months

Working Week

30 hours 5 days out of 7

Things to consider

The shift pattern will include weekdays, evenings and weekends however, the individual must also be flexible to suit the business needs.
