JOB PURPOSE:
To assist the Head Chef/Sous Chef in preparing, producing and presenting a high-quality food service to residents and guests. To lead team of 10 and synchronise and coordinate the activities of the kitchen. Additional weekend enhancement payable
OUTLINE OF DUTIES:
- To assist in the preparation of food in our kitchens for our restaurants, on a daily basis.
- Ensure the kitchen work area is clean and in good working order prior to food preparation commencing
- Ensure any stock is rotated regularly and kept under optimum conditions to ensure minimum wastage and that wastage sheets are filled out on a daily basis.
- When required take in deliveries by suppliers, ensuring that all stock signed for is present and undamaged
- Carry out cleaning duties as part of work scheduled by the Head Chef/Sous Chef
- To ensure that the food service to clients and customers is delivered to the required standards as specified by the Head Chef/Sous Chef
- To carry out all duties within kitchen areas in accordance with health, hygiene and safety regulations.
- As required, ensure all daily, weekly and monthly health and hygiene audits are completed as directed by the Head Chef.
- Ensure that you liaise and work in close collaboration with Hostesses, Carers, Nurses, Activities and that these staff are treated with mutual respect.
- Ensure that personal grooming and appearance standards are met regarding cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene
- Have a good knowledge on health & safety, hygiene, equal opportunities, HACC, Safer Food Better Business, and any other legislation.
- Carry out any other duties as required by management.
- Attend training courses as and when required.
- Assist with producing new menus/new dishes and any dietary/requirements that our residents would like/need to adhere to.
PRE-REQUISITES
- Passion for cooking.
- Friendly outgoing personality along with excellent personal presentation
- Must be able to handle pressure calmly and professionally.
- Working in a Care Home preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
- Be an excellent team player, tackle tasks with highest levels of enthusiasm and be flexible with hours.
- Food Better Business, and any other legislation.
- Carry out any other duties as required by management.
