Your day to day

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our EMEAA region! We are looking for a Design Manager to support the drive of the design and construction of our hotels to ensure we deliver the brand promise consistently and achieve operational efficiency.

You will be comfortable advising and reporting on hotel properties and new projects to ensure any hotels entering the IHG system conform to brand standards and requirements. You will be tasked with ensuring hotel projects are designed in line with IHG; industry best practice and support the relevant IHG brand values and positioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Development – To be responsible for individual hotel projects, liaise with internal and external customers and report on a timely basis progress of projects, through the monthly PMO process, on status of each project under your supervision. Lead the process for Property Reports/Property Improvement Plans include on site evaluations and execution. Ensure that quality of work and structurally safe designs and standards are followed and maintained at all properties to protect integrity/image of brands.
  • IHG and Team Engagement - Work closely with Engineering, Interior Design and Operation functions within the region to collaborate on issues impacting new conversion or renovation project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.
  • Project Initiation and Management - Prepare concise, accurate BSRs/PIPs on specific hotel projects for submission to the IHG Development Committee (DAC). Ensure owners and developers are aware of their obligations under applicable IHG property or license agreements.
  • Project Delivery - Present and support brand standards/values to owners and developers. Support individual projects during design and construction phase advising on best practice, brand standards compliance, PR compliance and present project to the IHG Design Approval Forum (DAF). Manage project meetings and represent the company during any discussions related to design with the client’s consultants of various disciplines. Agree with owners/developers/project teams a program for the works and liaise and co-ordinate with internal functions and external parties to ensure all IHG functional support is provided through the project’s ongoing development. Ensure up-to-date knowledge on relevant technologies, innovations, best practice and competitor activity to ensure a value adding service to projects is delivered reviewing and reporting as necessary on hotel projects to ensure any hotels entering the IHG system conform to brand standards, to ensure hotel projects are designed to support brand values, are efficiently planned and, as much as possible, are exemplars of hotel design. Sign-off the hotel at opening and capture any post-opening works, incorporating feedback from interior design, engineering and brand safety.

What we're looking for

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Architectural / Construction / Project Management / Interior Architecture qualification to higher degree level.
  • Fluent French and English; other relevant languages an advantage.
  • Ideally 5 years, minimum 2, experience in hotel Interior & Architectural Design in multinational companies, preferably in the hospitality sector (i.e., hotel management companies).
  • Strong knowledge of hotel Design and hotel operations, hotel construction principles and understanding of generally applicable laws and regulations in the hospitality sector.
  • Team management experience.
  • Design process management experience.
  • Good computer skills in AutoCAD, MS Office, -Project, -Outlook, etc.
  • Effective and adaptable communication skills (verbal & writing)
  • Ability to present project and design ideas and effectively and concisely.
