The Forest Home is a family run cosy bar and restaurant on the edge of The New Forest. Our kitchen prides itself in serving fresh home cooked food from all locally sourced ingredients, many of our vegetable and salad ingredients are grown in our own allotment behind the premises. We have a picturesque outdoor seating area, with an newly refurbished extensive children's play area and seasonal bouncy castle. A glowing wood burning stove and comfortable sofa seating area welcomes our customers on the colder, wintery days.
We provide a weekly quiz evening, meat draw on Friday & Sunday and live music by local musicians on various weekends. We are very dog friendly, we even have our own pub dog 'Monty' and sell local homemade doggy treats at the bar!

Detailed Job Description

The Forest Home is a family run cosy bar and restaurant on the edge of The New Forest. Their kitchen prides itself in serving fresh home cooked food from all locally sourced ingredients, many of their vegetable and salad ingredients are grown in their own allotment behind the premises.
The Forest Home now have an excellent opportunity for an apprentice chef to join their kitchen team, learn the trade and work towards gaining a Level 2 Production Chef Qualification.
Duties will include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Skills Required

Good Chef/Cook skills.
Ability to take instructions
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure

Personal Qualities

Clean and tidy appearance
Reliable and committed
Good Time keeping

Qualifications Required

None required, however, Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.

Future Prospects

Full time post as Chef

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Food Production Chef Apprenticeship. Maths and English if required.
