Domestic/Laundry Assistant

Position: LAUNDRY/DOMESTIC PERSON

Responsible to: The Manager or delegated person as authorised by the Manager

Purpose of Position:

1. To take joint responsibility with the Manager to ensure that the laundry and domestic requirements are undertaken to a high standard.

2. To ensure that the laundry room is a safe environment for the residents and staff and conforms to the requirements as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work legislation. To maintain a high standard of laundry in accord with Environment Health requirements.

Principal Responsibilities:

· In the first instance to advise the Manager of any malfunction of the laundry equipment.

· To ensure that sufficient stocks of relevant consumable items are held and that the usage of same is efficient and not wasteful.

· Ensure that the storage of all cleaning materials conform to the Home’s COSHH policy.

· Ensure that you maintain the Environmental Cleaning Schedule and checklist found in the Infection Control and Cleaning File

· Participate in staff meetings and in staff training where applicable.

· Contribute towards the development of activities and day care programmes for residents in which they can join in and which will enhance their quality of life.

· Aid the care staff when they are assisting those residents who wish to take an active part in the laundry of their personal clothing.

· Read, understand and adhere to all company policies

· Such other duties as may be required.

Principal Responsibilities: Domestic

· Help to ensure that all rooms and common spaces are properly cleaned and maintained throughout the building

· Ensure that domestic supplies are ordered

· Ensure that stock control and budget records are kept and are up to date.

· Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained throughout the building as set down by the Health and Hygiene Authorities.

· Ensure that you maintain the Environmental Cleaning Schedule and checklist found in the Infection Control and Cleaning File.

· Ensure that the storage of all cleaning materials conform to the Home’s COSHH policy

· Ensure all equipment used is well maintained and kept in good working order.

· Participate in staff meetings and in staff training and development activities.

· Contribute towards the development of activities and day care programmes for residents in which they can join in and which will enhance their quality of life.

· Assist those residents who wish to participate in the cleaning of their bedrooms.

· Read, understand and adhere to all company policies

Part-time hours: 30 per week
