Head Housekeeper - About you 

  • Experience in managing high volume is essential
  • Previous experience in a luxury, high volume setting is desirable
  • Evidence of successful team management
  • Ability to ensure Chewton Glen’s standards are maintained 
  • Budget/cost management experience preferential
  • Confident communicator with colleagues and guests at all levels
  • A keen eye for detail, organisational skills and a flexible attitude

Aim of the Head Housekeeper role

To effectively manage the Housekeeping and laundry team to ensure the high housekeeping standards within the hotel while maintaining the operating budget

Key Head Housekeeper responsibilities:

  • Take ownership to ensure all guest bedrooms, public areas and back of house areas are cleaned to Chewton Glen’s five star standards
  • Be confident in effectively managing the large team and controlling development with training, inductions, fires safety and health and safety procedures
  • Ensure that adequate staff are scheduled each week within budget levels to meet occupancy needs across housekeeping and laundry
  • Liaise with suppliers and to supervise the purchasing of all Housekeeping items and ensure stock levels are kept to an absolute minimum
  • To manage all costs, including labour, laundry and consumables
  • Carry out accurate and timely weekly and monthly stocktakes
  • Be passionate about reviewing procedures within the department to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum cost, whilst still achieving high standards.
