The White Hart is a beautiful privately owned restaurant, set in the picturesque village of Fyfield (10 minutes from Oxford city centre). This stunning country restaurant is listed in the prestigious Michelin and Good Food guides, holds 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence and has won numerous awards, including Best Restaurant for the South East at the national Food Awards.
The menu is Modern British and changes daily depending on what is fresh, seasonal and from the restaurant’s kitchen garden. Produce is of the highest quality, sourced mainly from local farms and suppliers. The Head chef/owner often catches his own fish and forages in local woods. Everything is made fresh on the premises, including bread, pasta and ice creams.

Detailed Job Description

The White Hart in Fyfield is all about great food, great company and great hospitality. Described as a “foodies paradise” by the Oxford Times, it is a place for food to be enjoyed and memories to be made.
The White Hart are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join their award-winning team. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, hardworking and ambitious chef to gain experience and progress. A passion for fresh food, local produce and quality is essential. So is a great personality and the ability to keep calm and work well under pressure and as part of a team. Alongside learning the trade the successful applicant will work towards gaining a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
Your role would include:
• Food preparation
• Cooking and executing dishes during service
• Maintaining a clean and orderly work section
• Conforming to food health, safety and hygiene standards
• As the successful candidate develops, they will be able to run a section on their own and give ideas/create new dishes

Qualifications Required

GCSE C/4 or above in Maths and English is preferred, however, Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.

Full time post upon completing the apprenticeship and also further progression and training from there.
