Salary: £27,574.00 - £30,590.00 Per Annum

As an Area Consultant you will provide our reserves with specialist commercial expertise and direction to underpin a high quality and consistent visitor experience that supports growth and support for the RSPB.

Working collaboratively with reserve and country teams to co-create annual business plans and agree targets for area and reserve teams, providing clear direction and expectations for the year ahead, you will be the critical link that supports the successful implementation of the food and beverage strategy.

You will provide expert advice on acquisition, extension and redevelopment proposals, and lead on the mobilisation of the food and beverage element of the project.

This will be a hands on role, drawing upon your expertise in coaching and training to enable those on the ground to get things up and running quickly and efficiently and deliver against the Key Performance Indicators.

Regular site visits will be required to maintain the required level of support for our teams, whilst also ensuring that our visitors have an amazing experience by implementing and maintaining the highest of standards possible.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering specialist commercial expertise and direction for food and beverage outlets or similar
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and coaching successful teams
  • Demonstrable practical experience of the legislative requirements, systems and procedures that facilitate a successful food and beverage operation
  • Sound business acumen and ability to use management information to support decision making and affect change
  • Organised with excellent time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills that create and maintain collaborative working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to reach effective solutions to problems within the legal and organisational framework you are working in
  • Experience of working with stock control management systems
  • Experience of new site openings and managing refurbishment programmes
  • A working knowledge of MS Office

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Working knowledge of Employment Law
  • Experience of working in visitor attractions, not-for-profit and the environment / conservation sector
  • Knowledge and experience of sustainable / responsible procurement
  • Health & Safety qualifications
  • Experienced user of MS Project
  • Experienced user of EPOS back-office systems

Overnight stays may be a requirement of the role.
