Sommelier

Benares Mayfair is a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant located on Berkeley Square in one of London’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Duties:

• Provide wine recommendations and suggestions to guests based on their preferences and the menu offerings

• Assist guests in selecting wines that pair well with their food choices

• Offer wine tastings and educational sessions to enhance guests' understanding and appreciation of wine

• Ensure proper storage and handling of wine bottles to maintain quality and prevent spoilage

• Stay updated on industry trends and new wine releases to continuously expand knowledge and offer unique selections

The Ideal Candidate:

• Good communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to maintain high standards

• Be able to work effectively as part of a team and build rapport with our guests and the team

• Ideally having WSET or similar qualification

• Strong understanding of food and wine pairing principles

• Knowledge of different types of wines, including regions, varietals, and vintages

• Previous experience in a similar role within a fine dining restaurant in a luxury establishment or within a Michelin starred restaurant
