The Rising Sun is centrally located in the heart of the pleasant village of Colden Common. Colden Common is a large village located close to Winchester and Eastleigh, and near to the M3 corridor. The Rising Sun boasts up-to-date décor, with sanded floorboards, pastel-green walls and exposed brickwork. Trading takes place from a single wooden bar of reasonable size, and the comfortable floor space also accommodates large table seating up to six for eating or drinking. There is ample standing room with views of the two television screens to keep customers entertained. Sections to either side of the central bar area are carpeted with one leading into a distinct dining area. A welcoming mixture of sofas, loose dining furniture and a fireplace create a homely feel in this generously proportioned room, which also benefits from a dual aspect, flooding the room with natural light. A variety of lamps, large mirrors and hanging pictures complete this welcoming environment. Protected from the road by the car park is a large lawned beer garden with picnic benches seating over 50 people. Some of the tables benefit from umbrellas meaning the garden can be enjoyed during both the warmer summer months and in less good weather. A children’s play area in the garden is close to some of the outdoor seating yet protected from the car park by a fence, ensuring the whole family can relax. Patio areas closer to the pub enable outside use without needing to access the garden itself. Here an additional smoking area can be found.
