A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Finance Team as a Temporary Finance Officer.
The Finance Team is going through a period of change and there is a need for some additional help from an experienced finance person. It is potentially a wide ranging role with involvement in a variety of activities. The main elements would be analysis and reporting, budgeting and balance sheet reconciliations
The role is a hybrid one but the successful candidate would be encouraged to spend at least some time in the National Office at Matlock.

What will you be doing?
Working with the Finance Team you will be:
- Responsible for undertaking detailed monthly accounting reconciliations, particularly in respect of payroll and balance sheet accounts, ensuring appropriateness, recoverability and accuracy of balances held on asset and liability nominal ledger codes within the accounting system. This will include agreeing corrections with the Finance Manager and ensuring that these are processed and checked.
- Responsible for monitoring and reconciling accruals and prepayments.
- Producing cost analyses and posting accounting transactions as part of the monthly routines, particularly in respect of electricity, gas, insurance premiums, rents, alternative accommodation, and depreciation. You’ll ensure appropriate costs are included within the accounts, posting accruals as required and investigating variances against budget.
- Supporting the Finance Manager in the production of the annual budgets in respect of rents, depreciation, utility costs and interest.
- Supporting the wider Finance team in the preparation of analysis and supporting schedules for the 2024/25 Budget.
- Carrying out ad-hoc project work as required.
What Skills and Experience do you need?
We value lived experience just as much as previous skills and knowledge. We offer a robust induction, ongoing training, and further development, however, some of our roles will have further skills requirements.
- A good understanding of accounting principles - AAT qualification or equivalent experience - including experience with monthly reporting and budgeting processes.
- Ability to interpret and reconcile financial data from a variety of sources.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Good IT skills, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to problem solve and work unsupervised, with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
