During the Production Chef apprenticeship you will learn all the skills needed to work in a busy kitchen.
You will follow recipes to create large quantities of food, both precooked and cooked to order.
You will learn how to make all of our homemade cakes, biscuits and brownies.
Some daily tasks include cleaning and sanitising the kitchen, preparing salad and cold meats for the deli counter, baking cookies, using the grill, griddle, fryers, oven and microwaves to cook meals, following the cleaning schedule at the end of the shift to fully clean down the kitchen.
You will also be given training in food allergies, hand washing, cooking and cooling food, safe food temperatures and much more.
You will work 4x 6 hour shifts a week totalling 24 hours in the café, a further 6 hours will be dedicated to completing your training. For a 6 hour shift you will given a break of 30 minutes and will be provided with a meal from the café.
