Regional People Operations Manager

What you'll be doing:
As our Regional People Operations Manager you will lookafter 3 London tracks (Sandown, Kempton and Epsom) delivering 104 JCC race days a year (30% of all JCC fixtures) and an equally busy C&E portfolio (including Boxing day and 27 th December racing and a busy summer season)

You will managea small team of People Ops Officers, building strong relationships with all stakeholders to enable smooth running of the department, consistently improving standards and achieving efficiencies.
More about the role:
  • Ensuring that the appropriate quantity, consistency and quality of staff are booked for work at the locations
  • Management of the variable payroll to achieve set payroll budget targets while meeting the operational needs of the locations
  • Developing and delivering recruitment plans and activities in the region to ensure direct recruitment is maximized
  • Developing, improving and furthering local universities, colleges and job centres relationships to enhance community engagement and recruitment
  • Developing and delivering training plans and activities in the region to ensure high and increasing level of staff skill
  • To drive the highest calibre of directly resourced casual staff, whilst consistently liaising with all operational parties to ensure that the correct volume of staff is booked for work whilst also ensuring all staff have the proper skill set to fulfil the roles
  • Ensure that the People Ops team is optimising all resources, assigning each colleague direct responsibility for Recruitment and Selection/Induction/Learning and Development, whilst taking complete overall ownership
  • Maintain H&S compliance and lead a health & safety culture
  • Develop a high performing culture by supporting the team, including any temporary members of staff you may have dealings with
  • Manage unit rotas in line with business needs and set targets. Working within all given budget parameters, accurately forecasting performance
  • Manage and inspire your team to have the vision to resource staff who will deliver first class customer service by focusing on the core values of the organisation
  • Explore new and diverse ways of recruiting and retaining a database of staff; commanding loyalty as much as possible in order to grow a large, reliable and professional team
  • Supporting the region with internal and external audits, including ownership of ipoe People signature
  • Supporting the HR function within the region including supporting investigations, TOIL management, and being the first point of call for any HR issues within the region
  • Manage and drive the labour plan and HR service across the Region
  • Responsible for the overall delivery of People Operations and respective teams at each of the venues and for liaising with the senior management teams to deliver best practice to drive change and constantly deliver business objectives
  • Provide strong leadership and focus whilst delivering and managing the People Operations function within the region
  • Ensure the smooth planning and delivery of a first-class service to the internal customer base and all customers within the venues
  • Ensure that all individuals employed by JCC at the venues are recruited and trained to JCC standards to deliver a 5-star service to all our guests.
  • Responsible for overall compliance

Who you are:
  • Previous experience working in a Labour Operations, HR Manager or similar type of role in a demanding, fast past environment
  • Positive attitude and friendly approach
  • Commercial experience in a fast paced, high volume variable labour environment (desirable)
  • Awareness of the local recruitment market and key competitors
  • Experience of working with a client group
  • High degree of IT proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Training delivery skills (essential)
  • Ability to lead others
  • Engaging, enthusiastic, sociable and motivated (essential)
  • Able to influence and operate at all stakeholder levels
