New Product Development (NPD) Technologist

What you'll be doing:
We're currently recruiting a dedicated New Product Development Technologist (NPD) to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in the Cuisine Centre on a full time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week.

  • Co-ordinate and manage development samples and prepare samples for submissions internally and externally, for both NPD and improvements
  • Ordering of new ingredients and packaging and helping to manage suppliers
  • Assist in driving a foodie culture within the business and keep abreast of food trends inside and outside of the business
  • Ensure all ingredient and product specifications are available from suppliers and internally in a timely manner in line with submissions and factory trials.
  • Costing of new products to help ensure they are commercially viable
  • Assessing the cook times and portion sizes of new products.
  • Assist with managing the handover process to production teams following product approval.
  • Assist with factory trials to ensure kitchen samples are replicated in the factory.
  • Manage the NPD kitchen and ingredients.
  • Calculate nutritional data for all products.
  • Complete presentations prior to submissions for clients.
What we'll give:
NPD Technologist - Cuisine Centre

£27500 per annum

40 hours per week

There will be some travelling required between the St Albans and St Helens sites, as well occasionally to supplier and client sites.

Who you are:
Our ideal NPD Technologist will:
  • Candidate needs to be true foodie and knowledge of food trends, with chef experience being desirable
  • Food Science degree or equivalent desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of nutrition desirable
  • Ideally 1-3 years' experience in NPD with manufacturing as a chef or technologist, ideally working with chilled products. Will consider driven graduate.
  • Food manufacturing safety & hygiene legislation desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Good PC skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Driving licence essential
