We are seeking an outstanding Business Development Manager to join our team. Working within the Southern Client Account Management team and aligned to our Head of Business Development and customer experience your focus will be growing and supporting our business. You'll proactively seek and identify new NHS sales opportunities to ensure maximum new business growth. Customer focused and a strong networker you will lead on the engagement process effectively managing your sales pipeline via our OEC CRM system. You'll be responsible for confidently and competently managing all ‘steps of the sale' from first appointment to site survey, project proposal, management, compilation to presentation, and following being awarded the business; securing a signed contract and handing over the new business to the Client Account manager. You will be responsible for networking and NHS Supply Chain brand engagement supporting our Regional Food Forums, Hospital Caterer Association events and our Foodbuy webinars and listening groups.
More about the role:
  • Quickly establish credible relationships with the customer's key stakeholders to identify growth opportunities, whilst gaining a sound understanding of the customers operational requirements within which our sourcing and category development solutions need to successfully operate.
  • Review participation by category to plan and implement growth and retention strategies which will aid the delivery of new and existing business, including a rolling lifecycle review process.
  • Manage the analysis of savings opportunities, trends in volumes, purchasing patterns and other key procurement metrics to aid identification of opportunities to grow volumes and deliver savings.
  • Organise customer engagement activities as required, including engagement planning, workshops, tasting sessions and also contribute to implementation marketing material.
  • Undertake activities to include stakeholder mapping and relationship management.
  • continuously with internal and external resources to ensure product, supply chain and commercial information remains relevant throughout both organisations
  • Identify customer operational requirements and feed these back to the Client Account Managment and procurment teams to development appropriate solutions. This will include reasons behind non-compliance and other commercial opportunities
  • Provide the customer with market facing data to aid their procurement decisions and budgeting requirements
  • Liaise with the Data teams to ensure that customer metrics are gathered and reported to provide transparency of KPI's
  • Record and deliver activities and supporting evidence to
  • ensure that all contractual KPI's are reported and delivered

Who you are:
  • Demonstrable success as a credible and confident influencer
  • Proven track record in identifying and winning new busines sales
  • The ability to quickly build a trusted relationship with cross-functional customers
  • Demonstrable success in managing change programmes to deliver operational and commercial benefits
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Close new business opportunities to achieve annual sales targets within project deadlines
  • Experience in one of the following sectors; Foodservice NHS or Healthcare Sector
  • Experience in a procurement or project managment environment
  • Managing the end to end sales process
  • Engage and influence stakeholders across all levels
  • Effectively use social media and networking events to build pipelines
  • Identifying and accumulating industry and market intelligence
  • Be a subject matter expert within new business development
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products and the strategic use of CRM systems

  • Knowledge Foodservice,wholesale, Procurement Consortia , Healthcare Sector , NHS
  • Exposure to sales, customer management, procurement or elements of the NHS supply chain
  • An understanding of dynamic, commercially driven price sensitive markets, for example FMCG

  • Experience of EU procurement procedures and frameworks
