What you’ll be doing

As a Chef you’re a key part of our Hospitality and Catering team! You’ll be the supporting the Lead Cook and play an important role in delivering catering service to resident groups that visit us at our Dale Fort Centre.

  • You’ll do some hands-on cooking, kitchen management and deputising for the Lead Cook as needed, as well as assisting with the supervision of the catering team.
  • This is an active role and you’ll need to be happy to be able to carry out all of the duties associated with kitchen work.
  • This is a Chef role with a difference, you can achieve a great Work/Life balance with no late shifts! Our finish time is normally 7.30pm at the latest.
  • We usually operate fixed mealtimes with one or two sittings, using set menus with two or three food choices.

Who we are looking for

You will have previous catering experience, a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, line managers and customers. In addition to:

Where you’ll be based

The Field Studies Council Dale Fort Centre is set in a spectacular location high on the cliffs within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. We have superb views over the sea! Built in 1856 to defend the Milford Haven waterway against invasion, it has been a field centre since 1948.

The centre can accommodate up to 136 guests across three accommodation blocks. We offer our residential guests fully catered services and can cater for all dietary needs, as well as providing packed lunch making services.

We are proud to have been awarded the Soil Association’s Food for Life Served Here Bronze Award which recognises organisations which go the extra mile to make sure visitors are receiving healthy, nutritious, and sustainable meals.
