Site/Project Manager

Quiet Company is seeking an outstanding, multi-skilled Site/Project Manager for Swarthmoor Hall – a Grade II listed historic/heritage property and the home of Quakerism in Britain. You will have demonstrable experience across facilities management (FM), hospitality, accommodation, and historic house/national heritage sites. This includes project management, site development and the operation of visitor experiences, catering and accommodation services, and facilities oversight.

Initially, the role will involve hands-on management of the Swarthmoor Hall building and site development project, due for first-phase completion in 2024, followed by ongoing management and development of all services across the site. Besides excellent site and project management, you must be committed to delivering outstanding visitor and guest experiences and exceptional customer service.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience of project-managing building and site development, preferably in the context of a historic/heritage site.
  • Knowledge of management and conservation of historic buildings, curation and conservation of collections in a historic site would be beneficial.
  • Able to demonstrate successful management of a (historic) visitor attraction, including the operation and development of accommodation and hospitality services and substantial revenue growth.
  • Facilities management is an integral part of the role, including gardens and grounds management, mechanical & electrical and building services, contractor oversight, general maintenance, security, and office administration.
  • Knowledge of operating and developing conference and meeting space would also be beneficial.
  • Dedication to excellent service delivery, and to achieving customer service that exceeds all expectations.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning, organising and operating all hospitality, accommodation, conference, office and visitor services.
  • You must have had responsibility for staff recruitment and development and be an outstanding leader, effective in engagement and performance management.
  • Implement quality accredited procedural standards that deliver consistently high levels of quality and service.
  • Able to produce and manage all budgets for income generation and cost control, and demonstrate substantial financial acumen in the growth of business services within a similar environment.
  • Be fully conversant with all FM, food safety, licensing, health & safety and building regulations, heritage legislation, curation, and compliance.
  • Familiar with property/site/building management systems, accommodation and conference booking systems and office administration applications.
  • Above all, you must be able to adapt your management and leadership style to meet the needs of visitors, guests, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • You must possess a courteous and professional manner, and be confident and passionate in your work.
  • You will be expected to uphold the values of Quakers in Britain and Quiet Company.

You will work 5 days from 7, including weekend work. You will need to be flexible with the days and times you are able to work. Working hours are typically between 8am and 8pm, with hours varying on a weekly basis.
