General Manager

Kimbolton School is a thriving HMC independent (‘private’) co-educational day and boarding school located in Cambridgeshire and within easy reach of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. An exciting opportunity has become available at the School; and we are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Catering General Manager.

The School educates over 1000 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18 in a co-educational, predominantly day environment, although there are up to 60 boarders. The Senior School is located around Kimbolton Castle while the preparatory school is housed to the west of the village on the original Grammar School site.

Kimbolton School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its boarding and day pupils. Safeguarding is integrated into the school ethos and it’s the School’s belief that it is the duty of all members of staff to play an active role in ensuring the safety and promoting the welfare of the children in the School’s care.

The position is for 40 hours per week to be worked 5 out of 7 days on a shift rota with a daily half hour unpaid lunch. This is a non-term time, and you will be expected to work 52 weeks minus annual and statutory holidays.



You will be

  • Responsible for the overall operation, in house student feeding, finance and development of social and wedding business within the specific site, ensuring the service is managed in line with the client requirements

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Ensure that client expectations of food and food service are consistently delivered and measured in line with the CH&CO brand.
  • Be the point of reference for all client comments and concerns and take any necessary action.
  • Conduct appropriate business review meetings with relevant client to ensure that all targets, objectives, and service level agreements are being met.
  • Prepare, produce, and present a weekly financial report for the operations manager detailing financial performance, activity and plans for the relevant site and outlining any necessary action that has been taken.
  • Ensure all staff carry out tasks in accordance with company health, hygiene, quality, and safety standards as set out in the appropriate CH&CO manual.
  • To keep up to date with all COSHH and HACCP procedures and methods.
