Commis Chef Apprentice

YOUR ROLE

To assist in the smooth running of the Kitchen service at Howard’s House country hotel and restaurant.

To produce a variety of dishes to a high standard of preparation, production and presentation, under the direction of our Head Chef and Sous Chef.

You will work a 5 day week on varying shifts.

Responsibilities will include:

· Assisting all members of the kitchen team

· Assisting with deliveries and stock control

· Food preparation such as peeling, cutting and preparing ingredients

· Learning the importance of systems, organisation and hygiene

· Preparing and plating dishes

· Learning Howard’s House specialities including baking and home-smoking meats, cheese and fish

· Learning about the creation of menus and seasonal dining

· Working with a wide range of dishes and menus, including seasonal menus, tasting menus, private events and parties, canapes, appetisers and desserts

· Working with the finest seasonal, locally sourced or homegrown fresh ingredients

· Working to excellent standards and ensuring consistency and quality control

· Working with our extensive kitchen garden and chickens
