Sous Chef - Hotel & Restaurant In St Ives, Cambridgeshire

Set on the riverside of the Great River Ouse, this independent, newly refurbished hotel and restaurant is setting up for this summer’s season and is now ready to employ a Sous Chef to re-launch and support the kitchen.

The food offering is for a combined 150 cover restaurant and terrace serving modern British all-day dining from traditional breakfast, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners. The venue is steeped in history and also offers an events marquee where weddings, celebrations and corporate events can be held.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Sous Chef to help support our skilled kitchen team. As Sous Chef you will play a crucial role in the department and your main responsibility is to assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team ensuring excellent product and service throughout. Proven previous experience is essential.

The ideal sous chef will have sous chef experience in a busy fresh food kitchen and now looking to join a great team who really values the work and effort you put in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Head Chef with effective kitchen management.
  • Ensure the delivery of all food service for all our menus are efficient and food standards are met and maintained.
  • Ensure consistency in quality utilising menu specification sheets.
  • Having the ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Lead by example, promoting high standards of service, conduct and professionalism in the team.
  • Controlling the order and storage of food supplies.
  • Eliminating wasteful or unprofitable practices.
  • Being aware of and supporting the delivery of financial targets.
