Detailed Job Description

Towers Health and Racquets Club brings to Bedford a unique package of high-end gym, group exercise classes, swimming, spa, tennis and squash facilities, coupled with a strong social element centred around their Club Lounge.
The Club Lounge operates throughout a full day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to their members. The role will require the successful candidate to work shift patterns and some weekends. The Apprentice will learn everything required in the role from, cleaning, prep work, cooking fresh, creating dishes and high standards of food hygiene.
Working a 40 hour week the apprentice Commis Chef will work under the guidance of their Food and Beverage Manager and Head Chef and learn all the requirements of the job. The kitchen operates within a successful and busy Health and Racquets club. Alongside this, the successful applicant will work towards gaining a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
Duties will include:
• Ingredient preparation
• Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
• Plating up and presentation of food
• Taking instruction from senior chefs
• Cleaning and clearing down work stations
• Working in a safe manner at all times
• Portion control

Skills Required

Some basic cooking skills would be advantageous but not totally required.
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work under pressure

Qualifications Required

We would consider any candidate with the right attitude and desire but a basic education in English and Maths would be desirable.
Maths and English will be assessed as part of the interview process.

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there is the opportunity for the candidate to move into a full time Commis Chef role.

Other Information

Salary will be a range from £5 - £6 depending on age and quality of candidate.

Things to consider

We are in a position to start the role straight away.
40 hours per week on a shift pattern. 2 days off per week will be given along with holiday allowance
