Cafe Team Member Apprentice

Part of ‘The Pavilion Hub, a community interest company,’ The Hideaway Café exists to empower and inspire young people through employment and training. This role will be varied and will teach you a variety of front of house and kitchen activities in a supportive environment

We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic, keen to learn and to develop basic food preparation and hospitality skills in a friendly café environment. Working towards a Level 2 Hospitality Team Member, training will be provided on the job and online, from an approved training provider. Successful applicants will be

given support to help them complete the course, matched with a mentor and complete a personal development programme.

This role in integral to the success of The Hideaway, and will involve working closely with the Café Manager, interacting with customers and helping to drive the revenue of The Hideaway activities.

The role is for 5 days a week, with 20% dedicated to training and education.

Key Responsibilities and Training

Wash, shred or chop foods such as produce and cheese, slice meat and arrange prepared food items

Prepare and cook simple foods – working to food hygiene and safety standard

Preparation of kitchen documentation, including completion of paperwork – eg: wastage sheets, cleaning records

Serve coffee and other hot drinks to a barista standard

Serve food promptly, and ensure food is garnished correctly

Manage portion control, preparation and storage methods

Take out waste, clean the cooking area and organise the storing of unused food.

Welcome, take orders from and serve customers

Set and clear tables and other general cleaning

Communicate with customers
