We have an exciting opportunity for Head of Retail to join our team in Helensburgh, This roleis a fantasticsenior opportunity for an accomplished food and beverage professional to inspire and lead a team of up to 203 people with 5 direct reports to optimise the sales and profitability of each outlet, to focus on compliance with relevant company policies, standards and employment principles.In return we offer support and development to grow within our business alongside a competitive salary.

Main responsibilities
  • To promote and lead a safety culture and ensure your team are aware of and operate in accordance with company and general Fire, Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures at all time.
  • To be a proactive and visible presence within the retail units on a day to day basis
  • To ensure the Retail teams are engaged and managed effectively
  • To ensure operational standard audits are passed and the relevant training is carried out
  • To manage scheduling and resourcing
  • To develop and drive a clear retail strategy for the Operations Director and team
  • Analyse data in order to drive opportunities and increase profitability
  • To ensure the Compass Service Framework policies, procedures and control documents are up to date
  • To conduct site/unit reviews to ensure company procedures in purchasing, stock, promotions, merchandising, cash handling etc are being managed in line with company procedures and sales opportunities are maximised
  • Ensure that all company profit protection processes are embedded and followed, and SLAs are obtained.
  • Be accountable for and deliver the retail overall financial budget and profit ensuring adherence to all finance processes
  • Create an integrated lean retail team, with multi-skilled roles to create flexibility through their ability to work across core functions and accommodate future changes.
  • Be prepared to fully enhance existing service offers, drive service initiatives, and take a full and supportive part in wider ESS teams, groups.
  • Fully understand the delivery model for each of the activity streams operating within the site and continuously seek means for improvement
  • Commit to service excellence, embed the ESS Way Commitments
  • Pro-active, self-auditing, consistently seeking and acting on feedback
  • Manage and reduce all absences and maintain regular updates on actions taken
  • Analyse labour costs within the Facilities Management team,
  • Track and control contract costs and provide clear and timely monthly reporting. Capability in production of detailed management information at site level and analysing the data to drive service improvements.
  • Be flexible and assist with other reasonable duties as and when required.
  • Deputise for the Operations Director as required.

Ideal candidate

​We are looking for someone who has:
  • Senior management experience
  • An enthusiastic individual with a passion for leading in a retail environment
  • Two years' experience in a retail based multi-unit management role
  • Convenience experience in a symbol or multiple brand
  • Branded experiencemanaging a high street operation
  • An outstanding communicator, able to liaise confidently with customers, clients, senior management and lead, engage & develop and motivate managers
  • Knowledge & experience of driving profitable sales growth across multiple store based retail sites
  • Experience of developing a strong retail focussed culture amongst teams whilst working remotely
  • IT literate (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams)
  • Good numeracy skills with the ability to analyse & interpret data
  • Able to work flexibly in line with business requirements

Desirable:
  • Branded Café management experience
  • Bar management experience
  • Fast food management experience
