The Banningham Crown has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sous Chef to work in this fresh food led operation alongside the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, providing meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.
The Banningham Crown has been run by the same family since 1993 and here the focus is on excellent food prepared in house and excellent customer service. The business is located in an idyllic countryside location so own transport is essential.
This family run business provides an opportunity for a chef that is looking to grow within the company and would suit a chef with ambition to progress to Head Chef and build their own team.
We are looking to recuit a larger team moving forward to facilitate improved work/life balance providing more flexible working and some weekends off.
The Job Duties:
Lead kitchen team in chef's absence.
Help provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members including, but not limited to, line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.
Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients.
Help to ensure a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verify all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
Ensure that cooking stations are stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
Help manage food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus work with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
Supervise the food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards are maintained.
Work with the Head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, recruitment and training opportunities.
Verify that all food storage units meet standards and are consistently well-managed.
Assist Head Chef with menu creation.
The Skills and Qualifications preferred but not essential are:
Formal culinary training and previous restaurant/pub experience
Extensive food and beverage knowledge
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Leadership, management, positivity.
Ability to work under pressure
Self-motivated, creative problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional customer-service skills
