This week “Only a Pavement Away” launched the first of its kind with “Cook & Dine” and Celebrity Chef, Tom Kerridge.
“Only A Pavement Away” celebrated an industry event to the Hospitality Industry to celebrate placing almost 70 successful, life changing placements for vulnerable individuals using stability through employment. The positivity in the room was incredible and to see, and work, with some of the amazing patrons who are working in some of the leading employers was a humbling experience. The importance of supporting amazing human beings who need a foot up into employment and who have potentially served their country, fallen on hard times and made small mistakes is something that everyone associated with Only a Pavement Away should be proud of.
Greg Mangham took an initial thought into reality and the Freemasons Hall looked incredible, it was one of the best industry events I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve been to some crackers. The privilege of working and serving industry friends for an amazing cause was special to say the least and to work with my amazing colleagues, Vicky glover and katie James was awesome.
Johanna Wimmer, Restaurants, Events & Training from The Ivy Collection, ran the show front of house and Chris Mackett, exec-chef at Tom Kerridge were world class, the brief at the start was detailed and motivating. The thing that sticks with me was to have fun and enjoy it - That we did! The money was raised to keep up the good work and to create opportunities.
With the event so well attended – 260 guests in total could have easily reached 400+ attendees. With so much happening I know that more and more people will be attracted to hospitality in general, having positive case studies will encourage the charities more and more to encourage people our way. I’m personally looking forward to seeing the first KP to Head Chef, the first runner to GM and from there to CEO. It will happen and the avenue to change lives in a positive way into the hospitality family continues to build up momentum.
