Leading universities have partnered with Hospitality Jobs UK (HJUK) to launch Hospitality & Universities United (HUU), a brand-new platform dedicated to educating and connecting hospitality students with employers as they start their career in hospitality.
The platform will showcase all available graduate, apprenticeship and entry level roles across the entire spectrum of hospitality alongside informing employers on the type of programmes they should be creating to entice students to join and stay with them.
HUU officially launched at the sold out HJUK Annual Conference – The Future of Recruitment and Retention in Hospitality, that took place on 23rd February at the University of Sunderland in London. Dawn Bowstead, Founder of Hospitality Jobs UK, said, “Only 27% of students currently undertaking hospitality focussed degrees in the UK go on to start careers in hospitality. By educating students on the genuine long-term career opportunities and career pathways alongside connecting them with employers that are invested in their development, I truly believe HUU will make huge positive impact to future employment and continuous growth within the hospitality sector.”
Lisa Wyld, Head at Missenden Abbey International Hotel School said, “The launch of Hospitality and Universities United (HUU) is ground-breaking and will provide fantastic opportunities for the universities, students and employers involved. We have the future leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs in our classrooms and now is the time to show them what an exciting and fulfilling career in hospitality is. By making links between education and employer opportunities more readily available, we believe this will be fundamental in helping them choosing a career in hospitality when they finish their studies.”
More information on HUU will be announced in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, or would like to know more about how you could get involved, contact Alice@hjuk.com.
